Here is the LATEST NEWs from Don Schott, musician, recording tech, stagehand and promoter of fine music.

I need your help with this too.

My friend Guy Moore (of the WAIF 88.3 Rockin' and Surfin' Show, Saturday nites from 6 to 8 P.M. )and my wife Beth and I (kokopelli stages) are promoting an event: CINCINNATI SURF EXPLOSION 2. This will take place on the stage of the beautiful and spacious venue (Not a bar) MEMORIAL HALL which is next to MUSIC HALL on Elm Street in Cincinnati, OH. Tickets are only $10 and available at 3 area record stores (Shake It, Phil's and Everybody's) as well as on line at: http://www.kokopellistages.com/products.html Doors open at 7 p.m. with fire dances and inside the mini tiki village and music by Surfin' Tiki Bandits.. Show at 8;05 on the 19th of September, a Friday.

Not unlike our last production (cincinnati surf explosion 1, held back in May 2008 at the Southgate House) we are going all out to bring the finest talent and a great stage production. We are even having this event recorded by Kurtis Heinrich of One Night on Earth Mobile Recording. We want to video tape it as well. We are projecting surfing images onto a 12 foot projection hoop with colored lighting while the bands are playing. There are hula and Polynesian fire dancers. Downstairs there will be a small (intention to grow) village of tiki artifacts, custom culture and rock a billy stuff along with unusual merchandising and food and drink. Sure you will be able to get a beer as Budweiser Light is one of the SPONSORS along with Cincinnati City Beat free press.

That said; there are three bands on the bill this time, not 5 like last. They are the wonderful Double Crown recording artists the: MADEIRA. Now on their third Double Crown recording. They will be crowning the show. From Atlanta, Georgia is a wonderful group: the SURGE. Opening the event will be DON"T FEAR THE REVERB (just cause it's my band - but good) The SURFIN' TIKI BANDITS, comprised of myself on 12 string acoustic guitar and Ron White of the MALADROITS playing acoustic lead 6 string guitar; will be performing some pre show in the DOWNSTAIRS part of the parlor. They play acoustic surf (with a little reverb) I NEED YOUR HELP because you probably know me (or you are a friend of a friend) some how and I NEED TO GET THE WORD OUT that this event is so very special and cool. I need people to forward this e mail to as many buddies as you can. Put your own introductory greeting on it so your friends know this is on the level. I will also have posters and hand bills to be passed out in small quantities. Sure, it is all volunteer but I will describe some logic below. I also need more vendors (contact me - space is so far free - see our site for more information: www.kokopellistages.com and people to help work the kokopelli stages booth (paid positions) So if you can do a little do a little and if you can do a lot , also very good. Try to e mail this whole correspondence to 400 of your best friends or music contacts. Poster art was designed by Maurice Mattei (who also has a band and a great web site) My pal RAY K. HENRY of the MEMORIAL HALL has presented Kokopelli Stages with the idea that this kind of local music concert facility can work for all of the concerned music acts in this area. MEANING that: if we can be successful making this well attended event work, we can do it more often and with other interesting artists. Remember the Fillmore, Black Dome and Ludlow Garage and the Association of Performing and Recording Artists and others?? United we stand divided we fall. So help out now and become part of the team that makes things like this event, a practical reoccurring reality.
